Conducting an independent investigation is critical to the role of the Lawyer-Guardian Ad Litem (LGAL) and is necessary to competently represent a child's best interests. This webinar will provide information and tips on how to conduct a thorough LGAL investigation

The Child Welfare Services (CWS) department is part of the Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO). CWS provides assistance to circuit court family divisions on child welfare matters, including child protective proceedings, foster care, adoption, termination of parental rights, permanency outcomes, and data collection and analysis. CWS administers the Michigan Court Improvement Program (CIP), the Foster Care Review Board Program (FCRB), and the training program for the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect. CWS provides numerous multi-disciplinary trainings each year on a variety of child welfare issues.
